Mt. Lookout Real Estate
Mt. Lookout is one of the Eastern neighborhoods of Cincinnati, just northwest of Linwood and overlooking the Ohio River valley. The neighborhood is named for the Mount Lookout Observatory, which moved to the neighborhood in 1873. Dating back to 1870, Mt. Lookout has as much historic importance as it does social.
The numerous bars and restaurants sprinkled throughout Mt. Lookout Square, combined with the neighborhood’s central location and its green spaces, are just a few of the reasons this Cincinnati neighborhood is so appealing. Mount Lookout’s lively business district is referred to as Mt. Lookout Square. Local restaurants and bars fuel a vibrant nightlife, while specialty shops and small business serve daytime needs. Mt. Lookout Tavern anchors the east end of the Square and attracts college students from the several area universities, as well as working professionals. Zip’s Cafe, a local favorite established 1926, is home to the ‘Zipburger’ – which is continually ranked as a top burger in Cincinnati (5th best in 2015 by Cincinnati Magazine). The Redmoor provides a unique local venue and event center for weddings, concerts, fundraisers, and private parties.
For the outdoor enthusiasts, the options are abundant. Ault Park is known for its infinite views, consisting of 224 acres of green space, with miles of trails through wooded terrain and a small playground for kids. The park also features a pavilion, popular for weddings and events. Nearby is also the Cincinnati Observatory, site of the oldest operating telescope in the USA, where visitors can enjoy astronomy nights and historical tours, or participate in the Observatory’s educational outreach program. Surrounding the busy square are tree-lined streets and the manicured lawns of local residents. The homes are charming, the atmosphere is friendly – you will LOVE all that Mt. Lookout has to offer!
